Xbox One to Launch on November 22, 2013 in 13 Territories

This is a big week for Xbox One!  I am pleased to share a few exciting developments as we continue our journey to deliver the best Xbox ever.

First, we hit an important milestone as we began full production of the Xbox One console recently.  The culmination of many years of listening to you, our fans, developing innovative technology, and partnering with the best game and entertainment partners in the industry has brought us to this point.  There is still a lot more work to do, but the teams are making excellent progress and are focused on launch.

Speaking of launch, we’re now in a position to share that Xbox One will be available on Nov. 22, 2013 in all 13 of our initial launch markets – Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and USA.  Many more markets will follow in 2014.
We are humbled and gratified by the tremendous interest in Xbox One from game fans everywhere.  We have sold out of our pre-order supply in the U.S. faster than at any other time in our history and we are on path to have the biggest launch of an Xbox ever.  We look forward to celebrating with millions and millions of gamers this holiday.

As a result of this incredible consumer demand and the development progress on Xbox One, I am thrilled to share that today we are making available a limited number of additional Xbox One Day One consoles for pre-order.  We have coordinated with our retail partners to make it easy for you to reserve your Xbox One today

Finally, in the spirit of continuing to bring new value and excitement to Xbox, I am also pleased to confirm that the development team has increased the CPU from 1.6GHZ to 1.75GHZ, roughly a 10 percent increase in CPU performance. This is on top of the 6% increase we previously announced for the GPU.  What does this mean to you the gamer? It means that the Xbox One will have that much more power for developers to make their games and entertainment really shine.  We’re going to keep bringing more value to the Xbox One as we head towards launch building on some of the advancements we have already shared such as the 40 plus improvements to the Xbox One controller, advancements to help you find the perfect opponent and make the most of our online community, to the power of the cloud.

And I have to mention the games - Xbox One is proving to be the best place for games, with our exclusive games winning over 100 awards at E3, driving pre-order increases of 200% in European markets after gamers first played our blockbuster line-up at gamescom, and blowing away thousands of fans at PAX PRIME this week-end. Only on Xbox One will you find exclusive blockbusters like "Halo," "Dead Rising 3," "Ryse: Son of Rome" and "Forza Motorsport 5"; new digital content from titles like "Call of Duty: Ghosts" and "Battlefield 4" coming to Xbox One first; and the "FIFA 14" Ultimate Team experience you won’t find anywhere else.

November 22 is a special day in Xbox history – on this day, we first launched Xbox 360 in 2005.* Our next chapter begins in 79 days, when Xbox One becomes available. We built Xbox One to bring you the best games, unrivaled multiplayer and more entertainment than ever before. It’s nearly time to say “Xbox On” and open a new world of games and entertainment.

* The Xbox 360 was released on November 22, 2005, in the United States and Canada; December 2, 2005, in Europe and December 10, 2005, in Japan. It was later launched in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Russia. In its first year on the market, the Xbox 360 launched in 36 countries, more countries than any other console has launched in a single year.

Nintendo 2DS New Portable Game Console

Nintendo decided to surprise the entire world today with two major announcements (the former not so surprising, but the latter almost shocking). The Japanese company has launched a new portable game console which is called, you won't believe it, the Nintendo 2DS.
The newly announced Nintendo 2DS will stay true to its name and will allow all buyers to play 3DS games... in 2D. This shouldn't be an issue because many people didn't like the 3D effect on the console in the first place (gave them a headache). Also, the 2DS is a lot cheaper, at just $129 with a 4 GB SD card that comes in the package. You will also be able to enjoy original DS games on the dual-screen console, just like the original.

Nintendo will begin selling their newest game console starting October 12th. Don't forget to check out the cute little video prepared by the game company.

    Costs just $129

CryEngine Next Gen PS4-Xbox One Tech Demo HD

Crytek have ushered in a new era for their state-of-the-art CRYENGINE  technology, with  the launch of the new CRYENGINE; an ever-evolving technology service, with always up to date access to the latest features in CRYENGINE for commercial game licensees.
CRYENGINE users will also benefit from the coming together of Crytek’s Engine Licensing and Research & Development teams; a move designed to double the level of one-to-one care game licensees can tap into, in essence offering Crytek’s R&D as a service for developers using the new CRYENGINE.

On top of these changes, the new CRYENGINE supports development on current and next generation consoles (Xbox One, PlayStation®4, and Wii U™), alongside PC, with further platforms to be added in the near future.
In line with the new services, the all-in-one development solution will no longer be identified by version numbers; reflecting the fact that constant updates and upgrades are always being applied to keep CRYENGINE at the forefront of its field.
Areil Cai, Director of Business Development – CRYENGINE said: "Supplying an engine is not about delivering a static piece of software. It’s about Crytek being an R&D team for our game licensees; providing the latest, greatest technology we can, all the time. As an industry, we’re all looking to deliver games as a service now – and we feel the same approach can be taken with game engines. Today's announcement reflects this progress, as well as our ongoing commitment to making sure CRYENGINE® licensees always stay well ahead of the game."
Also commenting on Crytek's announcement, Carl Jones, Business Development Director at Crytek, said: "Since CryENGINE 3 was launched in 2009, we've dramatically changed the engine so many times, with so many major new features, it’s not the same engine anymore.  We have revolutionised many parts of the engine: we have overhauled our entire lighting system, built movie quality character rendering and animation solutions, vastly improved the speed and effectiveness of our Sandbox editor, and even our rendering has changed with tessellation, pixel accurate displacement mapping and now physical based rendering; all of this while maintaining our first principal: that making games should be real-time, all the time. CRYENGINE is a new engine from Crytek – and it always will be!”
This week also sees a major update to Crytek's free CRYENGINE® SDK; granting non-commercial users access to a raft of the new features that recently helped to make Crysis 3 a visual benchmark for gaming. It is two years since the launch of the free CRYENGINE® SDK. In that time, the engine has been downloaded over five million times and is used for non-commercial projects every day by a constantly growing community and more than 400 universities. The update to the free SDK will take user feedback on board and remove some restrictions, which prevented users from working offline.
These changes to the CRYENGINE service are being marked with a new website which can be seen at www.cryengine.com, and a new tech trailer that you can watch below. Over time, the site will grow to offer new options for game developers, and will ultimately become the central hub for all official CRYENGINE content online.
